Good Bye August – Hello September!

It’s still summer!

At least here in the greater pacific northwest its summer! August was not our normal… My stroke survivor doesn’t do much of anything. Some days are rough and he struggles just getting out of bed. So he doesn’t. We did manage to get him out and to the waterfront one day this month. I’m thankful for the one day out.

It was a beautiful day! Not too hot, and not too cold for my SS. He did fine. My children packed a picnic for all of us. We loaded the car with his winter coat, gloves, and his blankets. But it was warm enough, he didn’t need the coat. Sitting in the sunshine was so refreshing. I could tell he loved his time next to the water. Hearing the waves, and the seagulls. There was an eagle soaring overhead. It was beautiful!

It makes me sad to see him in this state. We were always so active during August. This is our best month of summer in our area. The temps are usually warmer. This year, we’ve had record heat, but every year, August is usually the best month to plan outings to the water. The parks in Washington, near the water, are simply beautiful. Wonderful places to see sunsets. We didn’t see any sunsets near the water this August. Maybe next year.

August is so full of events…. the Blue Angels are always a favorite of ours. They skipped a couple of years, but they were back this year. We missed that.

The state fair started, and we usually go. I love the fair and all the small town festivals. The street fairs, farmers markets, and all the car shows. Maybe next year.

For now, I’m just going to enjoy my memories of our one day out of the house…. next to the water.
